Making the Decision to Hire a Professional Organizer

The decision to hire a professional organizer is not made lightly.

Many people put off organizing or don’t maintain the systems they previously created and it gets backed up. Most of the time they have an understanding of what they need to do. But they don’t have the time or energy to do it.

It’s also very easy to get overwhelmed with THE pile, THE list, or THE room. When it comes to the point of looking at the project as a whole and not knowing where to begin, that’s usually the time when I get a call for some help.

You’re getting more than a neatened space.

Remember, you’re not hiring a maid to clean up you kitchen, attic, kid’s room or closet. You’re hiring a professional organizer, often certified, to teach you how to be organized. We help you learn how to maintain your newly organized area. It’s a learning experience, not a neat room, that you’re getting.

This is a big decision, and not one made lightly. You’re asking a stranger to come into your home, see your disorganized world, and then have them go through it with you. You kept these items for a reason. They didn’t get thrown away with the trash. And a lot of the time it can be emotional.

Finding a professional organizer that you trust and work with is key to your happiness. A professional organizer is not there to judge you. He’s there because you made the effort to call. You asked him come and help you get your belongings back in order and your life back on track.

You’ve decided to redirect your time and energy from staying disorganized to getting organized!

When to ask “What does it cost?”

A lot of clients shy away from the idea of working with a professional organizer because of the thought of the cost.

You’ve put so much time, energy and effort into getting into the spot you are in – disorganized. You’ve spent many many resources on just getting un-organized. It’s already cost a lot!

You want to get organized, so the actual price should be a little ways down the list. Yes, we all have a budget. But getting organized will help you with that budget – in time savings which translates to lots of money saved.

And your professional organizer will almost always work with you to fit your budget. So don’t let it stand in your way!
